今天新疆喀什发生了袭警事件，两名歹徒用自制手榴弹居然使16名警察丧身，另有16名伤亡。上个月东突就利用网络对政府进行了恐吓，称上海和昆明的汽车爆炸案都是他们所为，目的就是要在奥运的时候“来事儿”。

Xinjiang, in the north-west of the country, is home to the Muslim Uighur people. Uighur separatists have waged a low-level campaign against Chinese rule for decades.地处中国西北的新疆是穆斯林维吾尔族的家园。几十年来，维吾尔族的独立主义者发动了不少小规模反汉族统治运动。
